Valeo Growing in Greensburg Again

GREENSBURG – An auto parts maker in Greensburg has announced a $22 million expansion plan. Valeo says it will upgrade equipment and hire 25 new employees. The move marks the company’s second significant expansion in a little over a year. In July 2014, Valeo detailed plans to invest nearly $28 million into its Decatur County operations and add around 250 jobs. That project involved new product lines for Honda, Nissan, Chrysler and Ford.

The Greensburg City Council approved tax abatement on the investment earlier this month.

Valeo’s Greensburg campus makes auto parts including engine cooling loop exchangers, oil coolers and front end modules. At its peak, the facility employed about 1,000 workers. During the recession, than number dropped to about 400. Since then, the company says employment levels have recovered. It now employs more than 670 full-time workers and more than 200 part-time employees.

The company’s Paris-based parent has nearly 82,000 employees in 29 countries. It reports annual sales of about $14 billion.
