Representatives of Cummins, Inc. appeared before Seymour City Council on Monday, March 28, 2022, to request tax abatement on new investment at the Seymour Engine Plant.

Company officials announced plans to invest $20.4 million, including over $19 million in new equipment, for the facility as Cummins continues to grow in Seymour.

“The expansion will include equipment, test cells, and other facility upgrades,” the company said in a release. “Manufacturing capital investment over the life of the project will include a new assembly line, paint area, and production test cells.”

The company was granted 10-year abatement on the investment, which will help Cummins retain its current workforce of nearly 900 workers.
